Who Is God For You?
This is a question that you might like to ask yourself and really contemplate when you are in a place of less turmoil.
Our previous 6 years have been quite exhausting to say the least, and there were times when I was ready to walk away from the calling that God has placed on my life. There were times in the ‘wilderness experience‘ where God’s voice seemed non-existent. The enemy was coming at our family in what seemed like full force. My mind was being assaulted by visions and words of the demonic and my sense of God had almost completely gone.
Have you ever been there? If you have been on the earth for more than a couple of years I can safely assume you have. Maybe you are there right now.
Would I want to walk through that again? No way! Do I regret going through that time? Not at all.
Hindsight is a wonderfully, amazing thing and being on the other side of that time, I can see how God was at work and how much stronger I am for it. I have a great deal more clarity on what I am purposed to do. I have a greater understanding on what the devil’s strategies are to get me down but the biggest thing is, I have a deeper faith in a God who is stronger, bigger, mightier and smarter than the devil could ever hope or dream to be.
I discovered that I am on the winning team ….. and SO ARE YOU!
Did I understand this while I was going through the hard time of 6 years? Not at all. It wasn’t until it had been over for a couple of months, in a season of rest, that I could process all that had been going on. It was then that I began to hear God’s voice again with much more clarity.
What Is God Saying To You?
As much as I cringe when I hear people say this, but whether we like it or not, there are seasons in our lives. What ‘season’ are you in at the moment? Are you in turmoil, a time of great challenge, or are you in a time where life is sailing by much easier?
May I encourage you to take the time to ask yourself (with Holy Spirit) these questions:
- What were my predominant feelings during this difficult time? (eg. hope, despair, confusion, deep seated joy, faith, etc?)
- What did I learn about myself? (Where are my weaknesses but more importantly, what are my strengths in a time of crisis?)
- What did I learn about others? (In the positive aspect)
- In hindsight, how was God working during this time? How did He protect me, provide for me, reveal His love to me?
- Is my faith strengthened or has it been shaken?
- Now, what are my honest thoughts about God? (A loving Father, a cruel master, a distant being, a faithful Lord, etc)
Taking honest stock of your belief systems in the good times is imperative if you want to survive the storms of life.
To get a true picture of God, may I suggest that you study the life of Jesus. It says in Hebrews 1:3 that Jesus is an exact representation of Father God’s nature. Jesus never criticised anyone except those under the power of a religious spirit: the Pharisees. Even then, His heart still loved them and longed for them to know the truth about who He was.
The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John, and of Luke and Acts together give great detail into Jesus’ life and how He represented God’s love for people, ie. His intense love for you.
Your prayers, your thanksgiving and praise as well as what you learn about Father God is all accumulative. I have found it to be invaluable to stock up my stores (as it were) of knowledge and revelation about, and faith in the Lord, during times of rest. Then when the challenging times come, your faith remains sure and steadfast in the One who is trustworthy.
Let me put it another way.
Your body doesn’t make its own Vitamin C yet this is one of the first Vitamins that is used up by our bodies when we become stressed. Vitamin C is stored in our adrenal glands and is used for many different functions in the body including tissue repair. The idea is to ingest Vitamin C on a daily basis so that it is stored up. When we are stressed, or when there is injury in the body, the adrenals kick into gear, release the stored Vitamin C and the body gets about it’s business. If there is not enough of this vital element, the immune system is weakened, the body can’t repair itself efficiently and Adrenal Fatigue (as well as other issues) can occur.
All of this can be minimised if Vitamin C is taken everyday – in fruits and vegetables and/or in a powder supplement.
It works in just the same way with your faith and beliefs. If you don’t invest in your relationship with God, when challenges do come, you may not remember or even know who God actually is. It will then be much easier for the devil and his minions to lie to you about your Father who desperately loves you. Your stores of revelation, prayer, thanksgiving and faith will be depleted before you know what happened.
You need to know that you know ……
God Is ALWAYS For You.
This will never change.
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.” 1 John 4:16
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” Jeremiah 31:3
If you get to know who God truly is for you and how He loves you in the good times, this will sustain you and guide you through the challenging times. Spend time in His Word, talking to the Lord, listening to His voice and obeying what He says. This is your Vitamin C that will sustain your faith and your very life!
How has God revealed Himself to you through past trials and challenges? How could you get to know your Heavenly Father better today? Please share below so we can learn from your revelations also. If you need encouragement, post your prayer requests below or contact me here and I will pray for you.
Have a fantastic week!
